Below is a list of traffic projects around southern Arizona. Weather-related road closures in Pima County can be seen HERE.

The list was last updated Wednesday, Oct. 20.

SR 77/Oracle Road: Through late 2022

The Arizona Department of Transportation is paving four miles of State Route 77/Oracle Road with plans to finish by late 2021.

The work will take place on the southern end of the project, with paving operations on Miracle Mile between Interstate 10 and Oracle Road and on Oracle Road from Miracle Mile to River Road.

Most of the work will occur between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.

During work hours, drivers can expect large vehicles and equipment on the roadway, uneven pavement and reduced speed limits through December. One lane of travel will remain open during pavement operations.

The new pavement is one of many improvements planned as part of a two-year, $34 million project to improve the highway between Interstate 10 and Oracle Road, as well as on Oracle Road from Miracle Mile to Calle Concordia.

Additional pavement work will resume in 2022.

Drivers should expect some daytime lane restrictions and delays throughout the project. ADOT will maintain access to the roughly 1,100 businesses in the corridor.

For more information about the project, please visit azdot.gov/SR77.

I-10/Houghton Road interchange: Through late 2021

An interchange reconstruction project will cause traffic adjustments.

Drivers should consider Rita Road and Wentworth-Colossal Cave Road as alternate routes to their commute.

The work is part of a project to replace the current interchange with a Diverging Diamond Interchange. For more about the project, click HERE.

A diverging diamond interchange is being built at the I-10/Houghton Road interchange.

Project Scope

Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Traffic control changes and speed reductions will occur as work progresses.

Road Pavement Repair and Preservation - Arivaca Arizona Project: Through Dec. 21

Crews will perform road repair work as part of Pima County’s Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program through Dec. 21 at the following locations:

  • Arivaca Road from the town of Arivaca to Sasabe Highway, State Highway 286
  • Ruby Road from Arivaca Road to the Pima County line

  • Universal Ranch Road from Arivaca Road to Arivaca Ranch Road
  • Arivaca Ranch Road from Universal Ranch Road to south of Cota Road

Work is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will consist of setting traffic control, lowering utilities, milling then repaving and temporary striping. Thermo striping will be scheduled for a later date.

Drivers can expect reduced speed due to uneven roadway, lane restrictions and a pilot vehicle through the work zone. Minor delays may occur.

Sewer repairs

Old Nogales Interceptor (ONI) Improvement Project: The ONI project is designed to increase capacity and install sewer infrastructure in order to manage flows along the new Aerospace Corridor and Aerospace Parkway.

Crews are working on the final phase, which extends from 36th Street, near Euclid Avenue, south to Aerospace Parkway, and generally follows the Union Pacific Railroad alignment.
